Larisa Polyakova: "We call scientists, ecologists, public figures, living on territories of Donbass temporarily under control of Ukraine, to get acquainted with results of the conference"

On Wednesday, May 17, in the Donetsk news agency the press conference following the results of the Second International scientific and practical conference has taken place "Ecological situation in Donbass: problems of safety and re-cultivation of the damaged territories for their economic revival".

The Minister of Education and Science of the Donetsk People's Republic Larisa Polyakova, adviser of Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, academician Mikhail Zalikhanov, rector of International Independent Ecological-Political University (IIEPU Academy) Sergey Stepanov, director of Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management of IIEPU Academy Victor Potapov participated in the press conference.

"Importance of a conference is caused, first of all, by the fact that in the course of discussion of scientific environmental problems and environmental management the vital issues of preservation and restoration of the nature of Donbass were brought up, it means the Donetsk People's Republic citizens health which is directly connected with ecology", - Larisa Polyakova noted.

Among the main environmental problems of Donbass the minister called the following: accumulation of pollutants in the environment, abundance of territories with industrial enterprises, combat operations.

"Undoubtedly, planning fighting, the authorities of Ukraine realized what negative consequences would be brought by them to the population and environment, but it didn't stopped them from the international crime. Dangerous influences are experienced not only by us, citizens of the Donetsk People's Republic, but also inhabitants of the territories of Donbass temporarily under control of Kiev regime, – all of us become victims of barbarous destruction of the ecosystem", - the minister emphasized.

Also Larisa Polyakova noted that the conference has special value in the light of the Humanitarian program for reunification of the people of Donbass announced by the Head of the Donetsk People's Republic as conferees, among whom there were both representatives of the scientific sphere of the DPR and foreign guests, including students, graduate students, young scientists, brought up safety and revival issues of all Donbass.

In conclusion, the minister emphasized that materials of the conference would be published in the nearest future and also be available in electronic version, and called scientists, ecologists, public figures, living on territories of Donbass temporarily under control to Ukraine, to get acquainted with results of the conference to estimate risks of that which is going on and do everything possible for preservation of our Homeland.

"The soil of the Donetsk People's Republic wounded by war needs treatment and restoration. We have come to the general opinion how to do it", - Mikhail Zalikhanov noted.

As Sergey Stepanov emphasized, it is very important that not only scientists of Russia and the Donetsk People's Republic, but also scientists of other countries worked on the solution of environmental problems of Donbass becose such problems do not have local, but global character.

"In spite of the fact that the Donetsk People's Republic is in the most serious condition in the context of military aggression, it has all opportunities of creation of ecological resources control system which will allow to develop economically and effectively, keep quality of the environment", - Victor Potapov noted.
