The State Committee of Forestry and Hunting of the DPR, the state enterprise “Donetsk Forestry” and an advertising agency “South-West” had made a priceless contribution to the preparation of this action. They allocated and delivered planting material – seedlings of red boreal oak and prepared tablets with the astronauts’ names. Donetsk School No. 56 took responsibility for planting and caring of young trees. The students of Donetsk National Technical University and Donetsk Railway Institute provided assistance with preparation stage of the action digging up holes of the appropriate size for seedlings.

The event was attended by respected guests such as Eleonora Fedorenko, Advisor to the Head of the DPR on children’s rights; Gennady Mishko, the Deputy Head of Donetsk city administration; Alexander Anoprienko, the Rector of Donetsk National Technical University and the representatives of public and educational organizations. The guests of the event noted the importance of planting trees and together with the young ecologists took an active part in this action. A total of 16 oak seedlings were planted, 12 of them named in honor of the first squad cosmonauts: Yuri Gagarin, Herman Titov, Andriyan Nikolaev, Pavel Popovich, Valery Bykovsky, Vladimir Komarov, Pavel Belyaev, Alexei Leonov, Boris Volynov, Yevgeny Khodunov, Georgy Shonin, Viktor Gorbatko.
