The competition involves teams from Suvorov and Nakhimov schools, cadet corps and schools, military-patriotic clubs of the Russian Federation, as well as of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. Representatives of our Republic became participants of the contest for the third time.

This year the delegation of Georgiy Beregovoy Donetsk Military Lyceum included nine students and one attendant. Traditionally, during the event, students of Suvorov and Nakhimov schools, cadet corps and schools, and military colleges competed in line training, participated in a contest for knowledge of the military history of Russia (Suvorov era, Suvorov heritage in the Soviet and Russian army), as well as in writing an essay on a suggested topic. This year the competition was dedicated to the 290th anniversary of the great Russian commander – Generalissimo Aleksandr Suvorov.

Our lyceum students honorably represented Donetsk Military Lyceum and the Republic, ranking the second in the team scoring. The winner of the Suvorov Ensign contest was determined by the average score received by the teams for the line training and historical contest.

According to the tradition, on the birthday of Aleksandr Suvorov, participating teams marched in review along the Field of Mars and laid flowers at the monument to the commander on Suvorov Square in St. Petersburg.

After the contest, an excursion program was organized for the participants, thanks to which the guests of the cultural capital of Russia had the opportunity to visit many historical sights of this unique city, as well as get acquainted with the life, education and upbringing system of St. Petersburg schools.

During their stay in St. Petersburg, the Donetsk students learnt a lot of new and useful things, met interesting people and exchanged experience. The trip of the delegation of Georgiy Beregovoy Donetsk Military Lyceum for the 2019 Suvorov Ensign Contest became possible due to the invitation of Aleksandr Suvorov State Memorial Museum (St. Petersburg) with the assistance of the Association of Graduates of Aleksey Epishev Donetsk Higher Military-Political School of Engineering and Signal Corps.
