The leading expert of department of general and secondary education of the Ministry and Education of the Donetsk People's Republic Victoria Naumenko, the rector of Donetsk republican institute of additional pedagogical education Alexey Chernyshev, the dean of biological faculty of Donetsk national university Oleh Goretski delivered the welcome speeches to the participants of the Academic Olympics.

The head of the department of botany and ecology of DonNU Andrey Safonov chaired the panel of judges.

Traditionally the Academic Olympics consists of two rounds: theoretical and practical.  School students' knowledge of studied branches of biology was checked during the theoretical tour. Practical work in educational laboratories helped to reveal abilities in determination of a biological object and its following characteristics as well as to establish level of proficiency in the elementary biological equipment.
