The chairman of jury Irina Simonova opened the academic competition.

"Dear friends! I am glad to congratulate you on opening of the academic competition. This year the competition of young philologists is divided into two competitions: in the Russian language and on the Russian literature, so - school students have more chances to check not only their linguistic, but also literary knowledge. I am very glad that the record number of students took part in the school stage of the academic competition. It is about 10 thousand people. I would like you to see in this Academic Olympics  not only a competition, but also a stage of overcoming yourself: to make a speech from the stage, to write an interesting composition, to do a task which still seemed to you difficult. And if you win  yourselves, the Olympics makes sense then. I wish you such victories!" - Irina Simonova addressed young philologists.

There were also congratulations from other guests.

"We hope that this year we will be able to send winners to the Academic Olympics of higher rank, to other countries. It is impossible to become isolated only on themselves, our children are capable to represent the Republic at a high intellectual level.  It is clear why we begin the final stage of the Republican Academic Olympics with Russian. It is an obligatory examination on the State Final Examination, and also a fine opportunity to show ourselves off and prove that we know Russian well in spite of the fact that 75% of our schools were Ukrainian-speaking for a long time ", - Irina Simonova emphasized during communication with members of the media.

"146 pupils of 7-11 classes are taking part in the final stage of the Academic Olympics in Russian, - the manager of department of Russian language and literature of Republican institute of additional pedagogical education Larisa Melnikova noted. - This year we entered new forms of tasks, in particular, linguistic tasks where comparison of Russian with Italian, French and other languages is required. There are also the new in tasks according to the analysis of the text. I think also a competition of oratorical skill will be interesting where subjects of patriotism, spirituality, value of the art word, etc. will be presented".

Pupils of different educational institutions executed poems about Russian, Russian national songs and dances. Then young philologists passed into classes where after opening envelopes with tasks started performing them.
