Organizers of the conference are Ministry of Education and Science of the Donetsk People's Republic, International independent ekological-political university (IIEPU Academy), Mikhail Tugan-Baranovsky Donetsk national university of economy and trade, Maxim Gorky Donetsk national medical university, Donetsk national technical university and also Public institution "Donetsk botanical garden".

The Minister of Education and Science of the DPR Larisa Polyakova told about areas of focus for the conference. "A plenary session on the subject: "The international nature protection agreements and their features for various countries and territories. Ecological threats, technologies and national security" opens the conference. Tomorrow, on May 17, the conference work will be continued at four discussion sites: two of them are at the premises of Mikhail Tugan-Baranovsky Donetsk national university of economy and trade, the third one is at the medical university and the fourth one in the technical university. On each site both scientists of the Donetsk People's Republic and our guests from other countries can have a speech. The conference participants' geography is wide: it is presented by more than ten countries of the FSU and beyond. Young scientists and graduate students will also take part in work of sections. The collection of works, which it will be possible to study in libraries of our higher education institutions, will publish by the conference results", – the head of the profile ministry reported.

Besides, conferees were greeted by the adviser of Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the academician Mikhail Zalikhanov. "Today's ecological conference is testimony of fearlessness, optimism and boundless belief of residents of the Donetsk People's Republic in right cause and victory of common sense. It is our joint contribution to future development of the Donetsk region", – he noted.

In his turn, the rector of IIEPU Academy Sergey Stepanov emphasized that in three years the DPR has made an enormous breakthrough in the future, state policy in scientific, educational spheres is being carried out at a high level and today's conference is one of confirmations to that. He focused attention that among conferees there are more than hundred speakers, including students and young scientists. "Ecology has no borders. Environmental problems have to be solved by joint efforts of all countries, the whole world. Especially questions of ecological safety are important at construction of the new state", – Sergey Stepanov declared.

Also the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Donetsk People's Republic Mikhail Kushakov pointed to importance of the conference for development of Donbass. "Military operations bring serious damage to economy and ecology of our region. During the conference we will carry out the analysis of ongoing events, we will develop recommendations with the purpose to draw public attention to consequences, possible as a result of technogenic or environmental disasters", – he declared.
