The ways of mutual cooperation were chosen on the basis of the directions of young specialists training, carried out by both educational institutions. They are Foreign Philology, Linguistics (Translation and Interpretation Studies), Russian Philology, History and Psychology. The agreement provides for various forms of cooperation, including the exchange of information on the organization of the educational process, scientific and methodological activities; exchange of pedagogical experience, educational and methodical literature; student and teaching mobility; training and internship for faculty; organization of joint educational, methodical and scientific arrangements; participation of students in international open tenders of student scientific efforts and Academic Olympics in philology, translation, history, psychology, mass cultural events, etc.
The visit programme to Smolensk included meetings with the vice-rectors, the head of the academic methodical management of the university, the deans of the departments, and the heads of the specialized departments. During their meetings they discussed options for mutually beneficial contacts that contribute to the formation of a comprehensive educational and scientific environment for the implementation of joint projects of various levels and nature. Besides, the international department organized a broad cultural programme, thanks to which the guests got acquainted with the rich centenary history of Smolensk State University, memorable historical sites and Smolensk cathedrals, visited the Teremok historical and architectural complex in the village of Talashkino and the memorial complex “Katyn”.
The cordiality and benevolence displayed by the Smolensk colleagues towards the delegation of the Institute for Foreign Languages inspire confidence in successful and long-term cooperation. The senior executives, teachers and students of the Institute are sincerely grateful to the Rector of Smolensk State University Mikhail Artyomenkov and his team for the horizons that are opening up.
