The action began with the presentation of the documentary "Born Twice" created by the staff of the DonNU Multimedia center and dated for the university's anniversary.

Representatives of public authorities of the DPR, delegations of the Russian Federation, Republic of Belarus, South Ossetia, rectors of institutions of higher professional education, directors of scientific institutions, veterans and graduates of the university, teachers, employees, students, the public representatives participated in the meeting of the Academic council.

The First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the DPR Mikhail Kushakov addressed welcome speech to heroes of the anniversary and read a congratulation on behalf of the Minister of Education and Science of the DPR Larisa Polyakova.

"Today in the field of science and education of the Donetsk People's Republic there is a milestone event – 80th anniversary of Donetsk national university, a classical higher education institution of our Republic known in all former Soviet Union and far beyond its limits. I am glad to give warm congratulations to the university's academic staff, to all the employees, students, graduates of different years. In 80 years a huge way from Stalin state teacher training college at which there were only two faculties to the multi-profile educational and scientific complex implementing unity of educational process and in-depth scientific research has been passed. The university is famous for its schools of sciences, names of many scientists are sign in the scientific world. We will always remember founders of these schools, outstanding, uncommon personalities, authors of education guidances, dictionaries, monographs. I wish heartily to teachers and students to keep on setting high the bar of the known educational institution, increasing its glory created by many generations. I wish the university further success in high-class specialists training for different fields of activity of the Donetsk People's Republic.

Let anniversary give a new impulse to development and improvement, implementation of the most courageous projects, integration into the international scientific and educational space", - Mikhail Kushakov emphasized and handed the diplomas and certificates of the Ministry of Education and Science of the DPR to a number of DonNU academic staff representatives.
