The volume and the name – "Еquipment and communism" (1922-1926), "Artemovets" (1926-1941), "Soviet student" (1951-1991), since 1991 – "Donetsk polytechnician" changed; printing; subjects of publications. But there was a main thing - "The Donetsk polytechnic" has always been a single whole with Alma Mater, narrating about milestone events of higher education institution, about people multiplying its glory, high school dynasties, outstanding graduates, the most important milestones of historical way of university, ethics and culture issues. Of course, first of all, "The Donetsk polytechnic" lights students and teachers achievements in scientific and educational spheres. But polytechnicians have a lot of other talents – writing poetry, drawing, embroidering, are fond of photo creativity, sport, going hiking, singing, dancing, KVN participation, various competitions and actions that the newspaper also tells readers about. It cultivates pride for their higher education institution, aspiration to keep, develop and increase rich university traditions. "The Donetsk polytechnic" repeatedly participated in various competitions of student's newspapers and became the winner in many nominations. In 1997 "The Donetsk polytechnic" began to appear not only in paper, but also on the website that considerably expanded reader's audience and gave the chance to many former DPI-DonNTU employees and students to be aware of native higher education institution.

In 95 years the high school newspaper has done an enormous work, lighting scientific, educational, cultural, sports life of higher education institution: DII - DPI - DGTU - DonNTU – and the oldest media of university continues this work. It is difficult to overestimate importance of the university newspaper. It is not a chronicler of events of only the higher education institution, but also contributes to create history of higher school in the Donetsk region.

In honor of 95-year anniversary of "the Donetsk Polytechniс" the scientific and technical library of DonNTU held the "Look through Time" exhibition and the unique exhibition "It is Our History Lines" where we can see stands with newspaper's issues of  the 20th, pre-war and Perestroika years and, of course, the present took place in the university history museum. It became possible thanks to efforts of the director of the museum Lidiya Kovalyova who had managed to keep invaluable historical documents. The exhibition lasts till May 1.
