International Research and Educational Forum on University Teacher Training Mission in the 21st Century (Rostov-on-Don, Russia)

On 29 September–4 October 2020, Southern Federal University in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, hosted the Second International Research and Educational Forum on University Teacher Training Mission in the 21st Century. The event was supported by the Russian Academy of Education, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the State Duma Committee for Education and Science, as well as the Council of the Federation Committee on Science, Education and Culture. More than 1300 people took part in the forum either in presentio or in absentia. Among the participants was Professor Svetlana Kochetova, Rector of Gorlovka Institute of Foreign Languages, and Olga Zharikova, Associate Professor at the Department of World Literature and Comparative Literature Studies.

The participants discussed the problems, chief aims, development patterns and ways to improve teacher education, and determined priorities for its transformation as part of the national project “Education” and the federal project “Teacher of the Future”. An important outcome of the forum was initiation of the project for strategic development of teacher education in the Russian Federation.

The system of continuous pedagogical education and support of teachers at all professional levels were considered as the fundamental setting of modern teachers’ community. In addition, one of the topical issues was the development of the information policy strategy to promote a positive image of teacher and raise the profile of teacher education in Russia.

Participation of the representatives of Gorlovka Institute of Foreign Languages in the scientific event has promoted profound cooperation between higher education institutions of the Russian Federation and the Donetsk People’s Republic.
