Minister of Education and Science Evgeny Gorokhov granted the wish of a three-year-old Dasha from Torez

30.05.19

Yevgeny Gorokhov, the Minister of Education and Science of the DPR, took part in the charity event “The Tree of Desires” that was held on May 23 on the initiative of the deputies of the DPR People’s Council and was timed to the International Children's Day.

During the event, which took place in the M. Brovun Donetsk State Academic Music and Drama Theater, Evgeny Gorokhov got a piece of paper with the dream of a three-year-old Dasha from Torez. The girl, who is undergoing long-term treatment for a serious illness, remains at one of the medical institutions in Donetsk with her mother. She already knows the letters, and her desire was a children's set of furniture, namely a table and a high chair, in order to continue learning the alphabet.

The very next day, Evgeny Vasilyevich fulfilled Dasha's wish. Right in the hospital ward, he handed her various gifts, including the main one, which caused a real delight to the girl. She immediately sat down on a chair and began to look at the bright pictures at the table, which came just right for her.

Evgeny Gorokhov warmly talked to Dasha and her mother, recalled his difficult post-war childhood, the care of people who helped him in life, and wished the girl the most important thing – health. “I wish all the best for you. Today we have a lot of good people who want to help each other. Let them always be with you,” the Minister addressed his new friends.

Dasha's mother received a huge bouquet of spring flowers as a gift and could not hold back tears of gratitude. “Thank you for supporting us! Fortunately, there are people who help us on the whole difficult path to recovery,” she said.

“The charity event is dedicated to the most important thing – the fulfillment of the wishes of our children. I am lucky to fulfill the wish of a child who is in very difficult situation now. The girl is only three years old, and she really wants to live and learn. We have to help all our children, both sick and healthy, but Dasha especially needs support so that she could feel our attention and care right now,” said Yevgeny Gorokhov.

The Minister also encouraged Dasha's doctors and noted that in this difficult time the Russian Federation helps the DPR children with all necessary medicines and medical equipment. “Our Republic will do everything possible so that none of the children feel deprived of attention,” promised Yevgeny Gorokhov.
