The Head of Republic greeted the audience and congratulated all on the Day of Republic.
"Dear fellow citizens! I congratulate all of you on the most important holiday of our young state – the Day of Republic. Four years ago, on May 11 on the national Referendum residents of Donetsk and Mariupol, Dokuchaievsk and Krasnoarmeysk, Debaltsevo and Artemovsk — residents of all Donbass chose justice, freedom and equality! We realized that for freedom we should battle, that we had difficult and laborious state construction process. Today we can claim that the Donetsk People's Republic hasn't only established itself as a state. We have stood, became stronger and now we are moving forward. And credit is due to each of you. In limited time the bodies of legislative and executive power were built, metallurgical, work coal-mining enterprises, light and food industries are kept and started working. Moreover, new branches of the national economy began to develop. I am sure, the Donetsk People's Republic has a great future!
Dear fellow countrymen, I wish you happy birthday of our state! I wish prosperity, wellbeing, peace and joy! Happy Republic Day!" — Alexander Zakharchenko said.
The event continued with awards ceremony.
Doctor of Engineering, professor, Minister of Education and Science of the DPR Evgeny Gorokhov was awarded an Order of Republic. He emphasized that much attention was paid and will be paid to development of education.
