The Ministry of Education and Science of the DPR appeals to all pupils, parents and teachers of the Republic to estimate correctly such "initiatives" as this step is nothing but veiled manifestation of policy of nationalism, in this concrete case linguistic one.

Firstly, if the Ukrainian officials are so concerned by education of children of the DPR why not to develop similar courses on Russian, mathematics, physics, astronomy, biology and also world history and geography?

But from the point of view of followers of linguistic nationalism - and today Ukraine desperately toughens this policy - the nation is defined first of all by community of language. Their educational reform for the purpose of a total Ukrainization also says about it: let's remind that at schools of Ukraine children will learn Russian only in elementary and middle school. In senior high school there won't be Russian lessons at all. In higher education institutions teaching will be conducted only in Ukrainian. Unlike Ukraine in the Donetsk People's Republic there are two state languages and studying of Ukrainian isn't cancelled.

There is a wish to suggest the Mariupol teachers to remind History before trying to teach this discipline to youth: there are frequent cases when aspiration of the state to maintain "purity" of language develops into upholding of the right for its use by means of terror. Moreover, not only assistance to preserve a unique language situation in its own territory, but also beyond its limits becomes a priority problem of such states which are followers of linguistic nationalism. What, actually, we can see.
