The action, which was held in A. Solovyanenko Donetsk state academic opera and ballet theater, was attended by the Chairman of National Council Denis Pushilin and the deputy minister of science and education Irina Simonova.

Addressing the audience Denis Pushilin stated that the International Children's Day is a great opportunity for all children to receive gifts, awards for the achievements, and for adults is a reminder on need to protect the children's rights. He added that among children of the Republic there are many talents which obtain progress in all directions – in sport, study, creativity.

On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Donetsk People's Republic Irina Simonova congratulated children. "Children's Day is not so much a holiday of children, as a reminder to us, adults, not to forget about childhood, that the person begins from the child, books, health. During this period it is possible to plunge into themselves, into that state when you are cheerful, kind, happy. And let this state remains for the rest of life!" – she wished.

On behalf of the Head of the Donetsk People's Republic Alexander Zakharchenko and the Ministry of Education and Science of the DPR guests of honor gave congratulations and handed gifts to winners of various competitions and festivals: winners of the Republican festival "Believe in Yourself"; children who had distinguished themselves in creative competitions, study, science and sport this academic year. Staff of additional education institutions of the Republic was also awarded for big contribution to patriotic education.

The holiday came to the end with "Parade of talents" concert with participation of the best children's staff of additional education institutions, pupils of residential care facilities of the DPR.
