According to preliminary calculations about 200 participants from temporarily uncontrolled territories arrived to the Republic to check their literacy. The total dictation in the Donetsk People's Republic united all who are able or want to learn to write and speak correctly Russian. Each of 22 sites where passed the Total dictation possessed the unique originality due to the "dictator's" feature and the list of participants

On April 8 at Donetsk republican institute of additional pedagogical education 200 residents of the Donetsk People's Republic became participants of the World's educational event. The deputy Minister of Science and Education of the DPR Irina Simonova addressed herself with welcome speech to the participants of the Total dictation-2017. The colonel Eduard Basurin, deputy commander of operational command of the Donetsk People's Republic became the announcer on the Donetsk RIAPE site. Alexey Chernyshev, the rector of Donetsk republican institute of additional pedagogical education supported participants of the Total dictation on the site No. 2. Among those who wrote the Total dictation in the Donetsk RIAPE there were school students and teachers, directors of schools of the Republic, employees of departments of education, system of additional education, students, doctors, engineers, pensioners, freelancers. The youngest of participants was 13 years old, the oldest one was 70, among participants there were several families of two, three and four people, including residents of Donetsk, Yasinovataya, Shakhtyorsk, Makeevka, Torez, Starobeshevo district.

The site in Republican versatile lyceum boarding school at DonNU took 100 participants wishing to test their literacy. Among them there were lyceum and school students, adults, and also soldiers of group of extra risk "Legion" of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the DPR. The text was dictated by the deputy of National Council of the DPR, the commander of "Legion" group Sergey Zavdoveev. The team of experienced language teachers of the Republic were experts of "The total dictation".

This year in Khartsyzk the site of the Total dictation, housed by the comprehensive school No. 1, is designed to 30 people, however there were more persons willing to take part. Among those who wanted to test their literacy there were people from 14 to 69, doctors, pupils, tutors, workers, employees, pensioners who were united by love to Russian. In Torez "Spector" lyceum, CS No. 8, 10, 11 and the gymnasium of a public and humane profile became sites of the Total dictation and participants were residents from a sixth-grader to a veteran of work.
