Larisa Polyakova: "Our boarding schools are ready to accommodate children needing special education"

During the briefing which took place on Tuesday, March 21, the Minister of Education and Science Larisa Polyakova told about the first results of implementation of the Humanitarian program for Donbass people reunification  concerning providing educational services by the organizations of special education.

Now 28 children with limited opportunities of health from territories under control of Ukraine are studying at boarding schools of the Donetsk People's Republic. These are children with hearing pathology (deaf, hearing-impaired), with a cerebral palsy, scoliosis and disturbance of intellectual development.

"Ukraine left these children to the mercy of fate and in the Donetsk People's Republic they found attention and care they had not had before. Our boarding schools are ready to accommodate also other children needing special education", - the Minister emphasized.

For the purpose of creation of conditions for blind and cecutient children training in Public Educational Institution Uglegorsk Special Boarding School No. 6  classes for children with this pathology are open that did not use to be in the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic. Today in this educational institution 23 persons are studying. The boarding school is ready to accommodate children from the territories under control of Ukraine needing special training.

Public institution of additional education "Republican center of additional education for blind and cecutient children and adults" is also operating in the DPR. Both inhabitants of the Republic and inhabitants living in territories under control to Ukraine can visit it.

Within the section "Socialization and Integration of Disabled People into Society" of this center visually impaired persons have an opportunity to work out in the swimming pool, attend cultural events, develop themselves in various directions, obtain information and participate in society life on an equal basis with healthy people.
