Ministry of Education and Science of the DPR is developing programs of social rehabilitation and socialization for physically disabled people

In our Republic special attention is paid to children and adults whose possibilities in the training plan and social adaptation are limited by their health features . Now in the city of Uglegorsk of the DPR the building of boarding school, which activities were suspended because of the fighting happening in this territory, has been rebuilt.

Now in the restored building repair and restoration work has been finished, and they are going to recieve new pupils.  Class rooms, bedrooms, a dining room, administration offices are created in the repaired building.

Orphan children with limited opportunities of health are going to live and study at the Uglegorsk special general education boarding school No. 6 of the MOH of the DPR. The first 22 pupils of this category from  1st to 9th classes  will be accepted here in January, 2017.

A particularity of this educational organization will become the fact that the contingent of students will shortly extend thanks to children with vision disorder and blind people. They will be given additional opportunities of training: specially trained teachers; specific lighting, hand-rail and other special resources. It should be noted that so far there have not been educational institutions of this kind within the Donetsk People's Republic. The teacher body consists of about 40 people. They are teachers, tutors, health workers, technicians who have experience of work with children of this medical profile.

Besides, in Donetsk a new public institution of additional education "Republican center of additional education for blind and visually impaired children and adults" begins to work. The organization is created for adaptation, social psychological recovery and provision of social services to people with sight disabilities, and also with sight violations. Tasks of the Center include ensuring versatile development of the children and adults having problems with sight. Such people really need adaptation to life in society and equal participation in it.

Training in the Center will contribute to orientation in macro- and micro space, for students assistive and compensatory tools of technical rehabilitation of blind persons are created ("a white cane" and others), they will have an opportunity to study blindly use of modern gadgets. Traditional training of blind persons in reading and writing in Braille's system is involved as well as a library of audiobooks on modern electronic media is created in the Center.

Rehabilitation is provided in all directions: social and psychological, cultural, household and labor. The staff of the Center will carry out work on escort of blind persons to social facilities, help socialization of disabled people ("invataxi", a social taxi, landing crews on railway and bus stations).

Special attention will be paid to development of creative abilities and inclinations of the persons having pathology of sight. They are assistance of the publication of their creative works, the organization of exhibitions, presentations and performances. Also trainings on protection of the rights and interests of people with sight violations and help to families with children, who are visually impaired, are provided. Creating favorable conditions for professional self-determination within the professions available to the visually impaired person is planned in the Center. These are organization and implementation of pre-professional and professional education for the specialties which visually impaired people can master.
